In order to compile a session roster, seats allocated to individual systems, for an institute, are based on the following factors:
Position Classification /Date of Hire: The law states that a position that meets the definition of library associate is required to complete training within two years of hire. LAs whose positions meet the definition and have the oldest hire date are given first priority.
Geographic and System Representation: Every effort will be made to provide an equitable distribution of LAs from a variety of systems. One of the goals of LATI is to foster knowledge of Marylands public library systems and to encourage networking among the LAs. Geographic and System Representation helps achieve that goal.
Number of LAs on waiting list: Extenuating circumstances may find a system with a sizeable number of LAs in the queue. In such situations, the system will be contacted to explore ways to accommodate and schedule additional institutes. If additional institutes are scheduled, other systems will be invited to participate.
